Melania Documentary Opens #1 Among Films Viewers Made a Point of Not Seeing

LOS ANGELES, CA — Filmmakers behind the newly released ‘Melania‘ documentary expressed guarded optimism this week after the film opened at number one among movies audiences consciously, deliberately, and in several cases verbally declined to watch.

“We’re very encouraged by the performance,” said a producer, pointing to internal metrics that show the film leading its competitive set in key categories such as intentional avoidance, active disinterest, and audiences who checked showtimes solely to confirm they were not attending. “When you adjust for expectations, awareness, and human curiosity, the numbers are actually quite strong.”

According to Amazon Studio sources, the documentary outperformed comparable releases in what executives described as a “challenging marketplace defined by selective engagement.” While theaters reported sparse attendance and ushers confirmed that “nothing was happening in there,” filmmakers emphasized that the film achieved 100% brand recognition among people who said, “Oh, that? Yeah, no.”

“Our research shows viewers weren’t confused,” said one Amazon spokesperson. “They knew exactly what the film was and made an informed choice not to see it. That level of clarity is extremely valuable.”

The studio further noted that the documentary dominated social media conversations in the Not Interested and Hide This Content categories, while trailer completion rates remained low but “consistent with the strategy.”

“We don’t measure success purely by tickets sold,” the spokesperson added. “We look at awareness-adjusted disengagement, opportunity cost deflection, and the favorability ratings Amazon earned with the President.”

At press time, filmmakers announced plans to expand distribution and begin work on their follow up films ‘Stephen’, ‘Baron’, and ‘Karoline’, despite a general lack of interest across all demographics. Despite this, the spokesperson added, “People don’t really know what they don’t want until it’s right in front of them.”
