WASHINGTON, DC — In celebration of Memorial Day, President Trump awarded himself the newly created Purple Hand medal Monday during a lavish ceremony honoring Americans who “sacrificed absolutely nothing for their country while still talking about it constantly.”
The event, held beneath towering American flags and flanked by applauding military officials, featured Trump receiving the oversized purple medallion while proudly displaying a large bruise on the back of his hand, which administration officials called “a visible reminder of the hardships endured by men navigating heavy social agendas.”
“This man fought bravely against tremendous odds,” said one general during the ceremony. “Not everyone could survive the devastating threat of heel discomfort while also maintaining multiple deferments.”
Trump, smiling triumphantly as the medal was placed around his neck, reportedly told the crowd the honor ranked “above the Medal of Honor, frankly,” because “nobody has socialized more successfully than me.”
The Purple Hand medal, unveiled earlier this week by the White House Patriotic Branding Initiative, is awarded to civilians who displayed “extraordinary resilience in sustained action outside of combat zones.” According to official guidelines, recipients must have “demonstrated unwavering commitment to self-preservation while others recklessly served.”
Audience members included several veterans, though cameras appeared to avoid lingering on their reactions for too long. One attendee was seen staring silently into the distance while another slowly removed his sunglasses and whispered, “What the hell is happening to this country?”
Critics blasted the ceremony as disrespectful and grotesque, though administration officials dismissed the backlash as “anti-hand sentiment.”
The ceremony concluded with a military flyover, a twenty-one-golf-cart salute, and Trump placing a commemorative wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Podiatrist, where he paused briefly before asking if the monument could be moved closer to his resort in Florida.
