Administration Debuts Spinning Wheel to Explain Why U.S. Is Bombing Iran Today

WASHINGTON, DC — The White House unveiled a large, brightly colored “Official Iran War Explanation Wheel” Thursday morning, assuring reporters it would finally bring clarity to the many questions Americans have about why the United States is currently bombing Iran.

Mounted beside the podium in the press briefing room, the six-foot carnival-style wheel features a variety of possible justifications including “Imminent Nuclear Threat,” “Missiles Probably,” “Freedom,” “Something They Did in 1979,” “Preemptive Self-Defense,” and “Strategic Reasons We’ll Explain Later.”

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt spun the wheel during the briefing while explaining that the administration has heard criticism that its explanations for the war have been “confusing.”

“Frankly, we felt the American people deserved transparency,” Leavitt said while giving the wheel a vigorous spin that landed on “Ballistic Missiles.” “Today’s reason for the operation is ballistic missiles. Yesterday it was a different thing, but today it’s missiles, which we think everyone can rally behind.”

The move comes after several days of shifting explanations from officials, which critics say have ranged from stopping Iran’s nuclear program to preempting a possible future attack or encouraging regime change. Administration officials insisted the wheel will ensure a consistent message moving forward.

“If reporters show up tomorrow and want to know why we’re bombing Iran, we simply spin again,” one senior aide explained. “This keeps everything organized and prevents the kind of narrative drift people were complaining about.”

The Pentagon confirmed that additional wedges may be added as needed, including “Protecting Shipping Lanes,” “Supporting Democracy,” and “Classified But Very Serious.”

Officials were eager to clarify one point, however. “This has absolutely nothing to do with the Epstein files,” Leavitt said firmly while placing a velvet rope around the wheel to prevent unauthorized spinning. “We want to be extremely clear about that.”

At press time, the wheel had been spun three more times during follow-up questions, briefly landing on “Oil Markets,” “Regional Stability,” and “Please Stop Asking.”
