WASHINGTON, DC — The White House unveiled its latest civic engagement initiative Tuesday with the announcement of Patriot Games, a nationally televised competition in which American children will battle one another for prizes once considered basic elements of democratic society, including lower gas prices, access to healthcare, and eggs that do not require a payment plan.
According to President Trump, the program is designed to “teach kids the value of competition, grit, and understanding that nothing in America is free except bootstraps.” Under the rules of Patriot Games, children ages 14-18 will compete in a series of challenges, ranging from essay-writing and endurance tests to survivalist challenges for the enjoyment of billionaires, for the chance to win policy concessions for their families.
“Why should hardworking corporations be punished when kids can earn it?” Trump said during the announcement, flanked by a bald eagle, a branded podium, and a confused ninth-grade civics class. “When I was a kid, if I wanted affordable eggs, I simply outperformed the other children.”
The competition’s top prize includes a one-year freeze on gas prices for the winner’s household, a coupon for “basic preventative healthcare,” and a dozen eggs presented ceremonially in a velvet-lined crate. Second place receives a voucher for discounted urgent care during off-peak hours. Third place gets a commemorative coin honoring the concept of healthcare.
Administration officials emphasized that the games are “voluntary,” though participation will reportedly be required for children whose parents complain online about inflation. Early drafts of the program’s challenges include “Explain Why Insulin Costs This Much,” “Outrun the Deductible,” and a team-based obstacle course titled “Supply Chain.”
Critics argue the program represents a troubling shift in public policy, replacing governance with reality television and hunger games-style incentives. The White House dismissed those concerns, noting that America already uses competition to determine access to education, housing, and survival, and this merely “cuts out the middleman.”
Trump concluded the announcement by teasing future seasons, including Patriot Games: Seniors Edition, where retirees will compete for Social Security benefits, and Patriot Games: Maternity Ward, in which newborns will immediately face off for prenatal care.
“America loves a winner,” Trump said. “And if you lose? That’s called learning.”
