CBS News Head Bari Weiss Set to Moderate Unbiased Town Hall Called “Why the Left Is Always Wrong”

NEW YORK, NY — CBS News announced Tuesday that its commitment to journalistic neutrality will be boldly reaffirmed with a new prime-time town hall moderated by network head Bari Weiss, tentatively titled Why the Left Is Always Wrong. Executives emphasized that the event will be “rigorously fair,” noting that the phrase about everything was added only after extensive internal debate.

According to CBS, the town hall will feature a diverse panel representing a wide range of viewpoints, including a former hedge fund manager, two Substack authors, a guy who “used to be liberal,” and a PowerPoint presentation labeled Just Facts. A token left-leaning voice was reportedly invited but later reclassified as “too ideological” after asking whether climate change exists.

Weiss, who assured viewers she brings “no agenda whatsoever,” explained that the town hall’s purpose is to restore trust in journalism by asking the hard questions—specifically, why the left hates free speech, comedy, Israel, capitalism, podcasts, and Joe Rogan. “These are questions Americans are asking,” Weiss said, gesturing vaguely toward Twitter replies and screenshots of emails beginning with “As a lifelong Democrat.”

CBS producers confirmed the event will open with a disclaimer stating that all opinions expressed are personal views, except the ones delivered calmly, confidently, and with supportive graphics, which will be labeled Context. Any disagreement will be welcomed, provided it is phrased as a concern about “tone,” “optics,” or “why this is pushing people to the right.”

Insiders say the network briefly considered renaming the event A Nuanced Conversation About the Complex Failures of Modern Liberalism, but ultimately went with something “more conversational.” Promotional materials reportedly tested well with focus groups who described the town hall as “refreshingly honest” and “finally saying what everyone on my group chat has been saying since 2015.”

Asked whether the program represents a shift toward right-wing propaganda, CBS executives rejected the characterization. “This is not propaganda,” one executive said. “Propaganda would imply coordination. This is simply what happens when every question is framed as ‘Don’t you think the left has gone too far?’”

The town hall will conclude with Weiss thanking viewers for keeping an open mind and reminding them that disagreement is healthy—as long as it’s expressed in a calm, reasonable way that ultimately arrives at the same conclusion.
