Police Charge Alan Ritchson Neighbor With Attempted Suicide

NASHVILLE, TN — Police in a quiet suburban Tennessee neighborhood confirmed Wednesday that they have formally charged Alan Ritchson’s neighbor with attempted suicide due to what sources described as “the extraordinary level of stupidity required to challenge a man built like industrial equipment.

Authorities say the man, identified as Ronnie Taylor, walked into the street, raised his hand to stop Ritchson’s motorcycle, and began shouting before fully processing the identity of the rider. Witnesses report Ronnie appeared confident, at one point allegedly saying, “You don’t scare me,” a statement investigators later described as “deeply optimistic.”

According to police, Ritchson slowed to a stop, removed his helmet, and looked at Ronnie in silence, at which point the encounter shifted from confrontation to what one officer called “a rapid internal audit of life choices.”

Investigators emphasized that the charge wasn’t based on stepping in front of the motorcycle, but on the neighbor’s decision to continue escalating after clearly identifying the rider as Alan Ritchson. According to police, most reasonable individuals would have interpreted the situation as a natural off-ramp to disengage. Instead, the neighbor reportedly doubled down, pointing at the motorcycle, gesturing aggressively, and insisting they “settle this right now,” despite what officers described as “overwhelming visual evidence this was not a winnable conflict.”

The suspect maintained a confrontational stance even after confirming he was dealing with what witnesses repeatedly described as ‘a human tank.’ A’t that point,” said Sgt. Mark Feldman “we felt the behavior crossed from poor judgment into deliberate self-endangerment.”

Bodycam footage reportedly shows the neighbor pacing, puffing out his chest, and continuing to issue challenges while Ritchson remained stationary and calm. Officers noted that the suspect even stepped closer after pausing briefly, a move described in the report as “an additional voluntary advance toward consequences.” One officer wrote that the moment constituted “a second, fully informed decision to proceed,” which ultimately led to the attempted-suicide charge.

“We’re not saying he intended to harm himself,” said Sgt. Mark Feldman. “But attempting to fight a person capable of bench pressing you and the motorcycle he’s riding, meets our working definition.”
