Congress Demands Fauci Explain Why Puppies Are So Cute

WASHINGTON, DC — Fresh off years of their investigation into pandemics, vaccines, viruses, and immunology, GOP members of Congress announced Wednesday they have expanded their inquiry into an alarming new mystery: why puppies are so irresistibly adorable.

Committee members stressed they are “just asking questions” about whether former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci played any role in the suspiciously floppy ears, oversized paws, and scientifically improbable levels of tail wagging found in young dogs.

“Americans deserve answers,” Sen. Rand Paul said while holding up an eight-week-old wrinkled puppy as evidence. “No one has adequately explained how or why these things are this cute.”

The committee reportedly subpoenaed thousands of veterinary records, dog calendars, and at least one tennis ball manufacturer in an effort to determine whether Fauci coordinated a decades-long campaign to increase public affection for canines.

Investigators have also requested internal emails from the American Kennel Club containing the words “good boy,” “who’s a good girl,” and “zoomies.”

Legal experts acknowledged they were unsure what crime, if any, was under investigation but noted that uncertainty had not significantly slowed congressional enthusiasm.

Fauci denied any involvement in puppy aesthetics, explaining that domestic dogs evolved alongside humans over thousands of years. Committee members dismissed the explanation as “exactly what someone connected to conspiracy to breed adorable puppies would say.”

For years, Sen. Paul has remained committed to holding Dr. Anthony Fauci criminally accountable for COVID.  As previous theories have failed to gain traction, investigators have continued searching for new ones, confident that enough hearings, subpoenas, and document requests will eventually uncover something actionable.

Committee leaders emphasized that no conclusions have been reached, although they remain confident the truth is out there. Probably somewhere beneath a puppy’s floppy ear.
